The survival of little things

                                                                              Europe trip- Year 1996.
Looking through the cherished wealth
I can only find the little times
Sparkle between great moments
Of respect and deeds,
Untold to friends unwritten in diaries
Kept under oath of secrecy
A black dress with the green border
And then the white-black silk after many years
Of wait and lasting desire-
Little corner shops serving few of soups
Long walks for the last two back bus seats
White vases that waited enough to get the flowers
Shops visited often selected but bought later,
All of this as we look the old papers
Kept by mother near before she left
Traditions are meant to continue, but only
In the survival of little things.

A gift to myself (on my birthday)

                                                                        From the bygone days.
Today I want to gift myself a world of goodness
One face seen in everyone
A day without voices
And a moment of no dreams;

Today I want to gift myself
Peace and the memories that promise not to fade
What is not and could not be
The wishes of dead to come alive;

The unwritten verses, the unspoken sentences
The lost bangles pentagon boxes
The dressing table that I could sit at, all of the evenings
A letter that does not disappear;

Today I want to gift myself a day
That just ends itself
Leaving no trace no signs with the rising rays
But you me and nothing in between.

Going home

Coastline near Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa in Muscat, Oman, Oct 2014.
.
Yet another day
Looking into the sky
For things unused unwanted
The drum beats that played
The school prayers and the field full of faces
Family and friends who were always,

It had been different since
The complexity of roads
People eating on them
I know the family wanted her to die
Yet is it not a lost life
We could only go home from there,

Driving in rain is so peaceful
Washed soul and a cleansed view
The rhyme of wipers, the misty glasses
All of it and the world at bay
Just then a little flower could drop, only white
Gifting immortal joy.
