For the archives

                                         A snow covered cemetery in Uppsala-January 2015.

Dressed as groom and the bride
They lay on the divider side by side
In full view of the racing cars
And the passengers
Upon either of the roads wide,
The ‘pagdi’ and the ‘tilak’ on groom’s forehead
A veil to hide the bride’s face
On way to hospital it was a refreshing view
Not disturbing a sight as it could be
Otherwise;
Each of us would think we could be the dolls
Forever to be the inside of the exhibition halls
Passed over to generations
Win the race against the mortal humans
Silently and with unfading grace,
But the wicked mind
Plans its story with all the glamour
Narrated with pride and honour
Without a death certificate in the end
Abandoned, for the archives.

A bed is empty

B-1439, Indira Nagar, Lucknow, as seen from outside on Feb 8th, 2015.
A bed is empty today
With stories of love and care, fearless follower
Of truth and freedom to the very end
A picture of him smiling in our minds
Few of us gather
To let him go where the heavens unite,
The fortunate, even if it be the cycle of time
The family reflects, wonderful moments
Life as siblings, memories continue to bind us
The house remains vacant
Untouched, uninhabited, names engraved, abode of ‘Shraddha
But with a bed empty today.

(In fond memory of Pitaji, who left us on February 5th, 2015 at 2:35pm)
