Meaning in death

These photos show Atish-Anish walking through Eifel, a hilly place near Juelich, in the year 1983.

A field is spread
Trees spring in front
The birds sing
All collapse into one
A shadow dark and grim
Carrying the unknown
Awaiting arrival of self
The shrinking of the world
Privatisation of life
Drawing in and further in
Making it quiet, very quiet
Why look for the purpose, instead
A meaning in death.

Today Marco-Torsten would have gone there with Reni for the cremation of Herbert, who wished to be put to rest in what is known as a "Friedwald", which is a beautiful and peaceful place in the woods of Eifel.

  1. From Atish:

It is really sad to hear Herbet passed away. I do remember that Burlet Aunty used to mention they'd visit India. In particular, I remember she kept saying they would visit in 96, and said "cheus bisch zex-und-noinsich" or something like that, meaning bye till 96. How is Burlet Aunty doing health-wise? I think Herbet used to sit with a pack of beer in front of the TV all the time (where I think his definition of pack was an enormous case larger than I've seen anywhere else).
